- HS code (TN VED): how to find it for a part and why it mattersThe HS code (TN VED) is the number of a product in the customs list. It decides the duty, whether a certificate is needed and whether preferences apply. The code is chosen by rules from the description and purpose of the goods. If in doubt, you can get a preliminary decision from customs in advance, and it is binding on customs.
- Do you need a certificate for equipment and parts from China?It depends on the product. A certificate of conformity is required if the product is on the list of goods subject to mandatory conformity confirmation. Whether it is, you check by the HS code (TN VED) and the description of the goods. The 2018 simplification for equipment and parts imported "for your own production" was repealed in February 2026.

For cargo going to Uzbekistan by rail or truck, the rules for any mode of transport fit: EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP. Sea-only FOB and CIF used for overland cargo are a common mistake.

What matters to the buyer is not the split but the event the balance is tied to: an inspection report, documents, or just the plant's "ready" message. A letter of credit protects more, but the bank checks documents, not goods.
- Boiler from China: what approvals are needed before first start-upA steam boiler in Uzbekistan is pressure equipment. Since 6 February 2026 it has been governed by a technical regulation approved by CMR Resolution No. 493. Before release to the market the boiler undergoes conformity assessment and arrives with the plant's passport and calculations; start-up and operation follow industrial safety rules.
