Separates heavy contaminants from the stock before forming. The inlet head is of high-strength cast iron; the stock enters tangentially under pressure and spirals down the cone. Centrifugal force throws the heavy contaminants onto the inner surface of the cone, from where they settle downwards, while the cleaned stock leaves through the upper central port. Back-flushing with high-pressure water lifts the fiber back, and the contaminants pass through a ball valve into the sludge collector. Pressure gauges at the inlet and the outlet keep the differential under watch during operation.
